Rumor: Dark Souls Remastered for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC to be announced today [Update]

Dark Souls

Following a rumor earlier this morning that a Dark Souls Remastered will be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on May 24, Kotaku UK is reporting that the title will be announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC later today.

The Switch announcement will reportedly come first via a Nintendo Direct Mini that will showcase 2018 Switch software and air shortly after its announcement. Dark Souls Remastered is said to be the closing announcement.

It is said that a few hours following the Switch announcement, Dark Souls Remastered will also be confirmed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. These ports are said to be handled by a separate company from the Switch version, and feature rebuilt lighting and special effects based on Dark Souls III, as well as upscaled textures. It is said that multiplayer will be expanded to support six concurrent players.

According to Kotaku UK, Bandai Namco plans to bring all three Dark Souls titles to Switch eventually, but it will not be happening in a single trilogy bundle. At least not from the get-go.

Dark Souls Remastered is said to be launching for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in May.
